As part of the ESA Education programme, seven CubeSats will be flown on the first qualification flight of Europe’s new Vega launcher. This video shows the integration of the CubeSats in the P-POD deployment system and includes some interviews with ESA’s experts and European students involved in the programme.
Our team members Gábor Marosy and Dávid Czifra are shown at 1:58 and 2:06, preparing ground support equipment for the charging of the batteries of Masat-1 which is shown at 2:14, during integration of the satellite in the European Spaceport in French Guiana. The scenes recorded on the 6th of December, 2011, featuring our team members are included in this interesting new video about the two main payloads and the CubeSats which are going to fly with the first inaugural flight of the new European Vega launcher.
The inaugural Vega flight in Kourou is scheduled to take place on 13 February, within 11:00 and 13:00 CET. VEGA will lift off from its newly built Launch Site at the Guiana Space Centre. This Launch pad, built on the exact location of the first Ariane launches, is in fact not the only new facility at Europe’s Spaceport. Other buildings and installations have been put in place to meet the needs of the new launch vehicle, which is designed to fly at least two times a year.
